Danielle just completed her time as a WAGGGS’ delegate to the UN for the 56th Commission on the Status of Women. She has been blogging about her experience and this is as adaptation of her final entry from her own blog “Country Girl Heads to the Big Apple”.

Being a Girl Guide has given me many great experiences, and has taught me that the Guiding spirit is not only in Lucan, Ontario, Canada… But around the world! I have life-long friends in many countries as a result of my Guiding involvement over the years. Again – I am very blessed!
Our last day at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) was filled with many evaluations – which were required, but still fun and nice to debrief about our experiences with each other. It was bittersweet to say our goodbyes! It is crazy how fast you can connect with others. The WAGGGS’ delegation only spent a week together, but we will be life-long friends!
Do you know the quote: “All is well that ends well”? Well, my journey of advocacy is not OVER! I will return home, to continue in my own community and life what I have learned through my experiences thus far. I have been very blessed to have some of the amazing opportunities and experiences I have had in the past couple years. I plan to continue to encourage others, and empower girls and young women!
