Bike Safety 101

Will someone please explain to me this scenario: Mom, Dad, Timmy and Tammy are off on a family bike ride. It’s fun! It’s environmental! It’s family bonding! Timmy and Tammy are dutifully wearing their bike helmets. But mom and Dad are not. I don’t get this. If there’s an accident, are Timmy and Tammy supposed to scoop mom and dad’s brains off the curb?

And what about this scenario: city chic hipster girl is riding her cool retro bike with basket down the road. She’s wearing lovely ballet flats, a cute skirt and top. But no helmet. Is it just me, or won’t her bleeding scalp ruin the outfit?

What’s your take? Is there ever a reason to NOT wear a bike helmet?

Properly fitting helmets are super important too, not just having a helmet. 🙂
