The end of the Guiding year has arrived for some, and only a few meetings remain for others before summer vacation. We know how amazing our Guiders and volunteers are, and so we thought we’d collect comments about the Guiders in your life and share them online! To start things off for us, Mary tells us why she wants to thank her daughter’s Guiders. Contribute your thoughts about why the Guiders in your life are so AMAZING! They’ll appreciate knowing why!
An Open Letter to Dream, Lollipop, Sparkle and Sunshine

No matter the language, I can’t say thank you enough for the amazing year you gave my daughter Ella in Sparks. Every Tuesday from 6 to 7, you managed to pack in so many games, experiences, crafts, and of course, giggles. No two Sparks meetings were ever alike. (Well, except for the fact that they were always super fun, always jam-packed with engaging activities and always super organized. So maybe they were alike!)
So, as the Guiding year comes to an end, let me take a moment to give a special shout out to the year’s highlights:
- Thank you for helping my daughter see her neighbourhood pond in a whole new way with a nature scavenger hunt.
- Thank you for giving girls the chance to see themselves as part of the greater community by singing for local seniors.
- Thank you for bringing sharing to a whole new level, as you helped the Sparks make playdough to give as holiday presents to children in need.
- Thank you for encouraging the girls to explore their own abilities with fun and challenging tasks – from astronomy and making new friends to crafting inukshuks and a sleepover at a science museum!
For all that you do, Dream (a.k.a. Jenn), Lollipop (Jennifer), Sparkle (Sarah) and Sunshine (Catherine), some true gratitude from a thankful Spark mom.
